Supplemental Outreach Initiatives

  1. Job Fair – Illinois State University

Participated in a Job Fair at Illinois State University in February for the student population looking for careers post college as well as those looking to secure internships for the upcoming school year. Various members of our team were stationed at a booth collecting resumes and conducting on site interviews with students look for future positions. These interviews were for positions in sales, operations and news.

  1. COM WEEK – ISU School of Communications

The Stations participated in COM Week put on by the School of Communications at Illinois State University April 17-21, 2017. COM Week is a communication convention that brings real life professionals to students. The goal is to provide an opportunity for students to learn more about their career options and help educate students on the importance of professional development. COM Week also gives students a chance to be proactive and utilize the abundant networking opportunities.

  1.       Internship Program

Our internship program is available to high school or college students with a specific interest in broadcasting.  The 2016-2017 program featured three participants including students from Illinois State University. The students are participating in on-air roles, active in promotional support and working directly with the Audio production and video content for websites and social media.    

  1. Illinois Broadcasters Association – IBA-University

IBA-University at ISU in Normal on Friday October 14th. Approximately 200 students from across the state attend. Neuhoff Media participated in panels “How to Turn Internships into a Job” “Intro to Sales” and “Digital the new Media”.

  1. Bloomington High School –Job Shadow Day

Neuhoff Media-Bloomington participated in this Program during the first week of March. Bloomington High School supports this initiative to expose High School students to various Careers and work Sites across the community Five area students spent the day observing various jobs being performed within the radio stations.  They learned about careers currently available in the broadcast industry and future opportunities related to technology and innovation.

  1. Community Outreach – Station Tours and Information Sessions

During the course of the reporting period six educational tours and information sessions were conducted by staff of Neuhoff Media-Bloomington. These sessions where conducted on-site at our studio location.

  1. Media Sales Institute at Illinois State University

On Friday April 4th Danielle Outlaw represented Neuhoff Media at the event held in Normal, Illinois. Neuhoff Media had access to 100 students in attendance with the opportunity for one on one conversations with Students in ISU’s Sales Scholar Program and to offer them information about broadcast careers and employment at Neuhoff Media.

  1. University of Indianapolis – Student Management Leadership Retreat

On Thursday, August 4th, 2016 Neuhoff Media provided the keynote speaker for the annual Student Management Leadership Retreat at the University of Indianapolis.  The retreat was attended by over 20 students who are currently enrolled in Radio, TV or Digital focused curriculum at UIndy. We provided instruction on career pathways in our company, insights into employment strategies and necessary skill sets for successful applicants at Neuhoff Media. Students were given an overview of the current employment outlook in the local markets and were encouraged to visit our website for future job postings.  The students were also encouraged to reach out to the CEO and COO as they advanced in their career paths.
